In World War II, we took charge in the fight against fascism. Then, we kept tensions cool with the communist Soviet Union—to prevent another massive global conflict.
Today, terrorist attacks have become an enemy unlike any we have ever faced before. The organizations and terrorist activities cannot be contained by borders or the local governments. As desperation and propaganda influence more and more people to turn to extremism and anti-Western activity, the entire world is left wondering how we can fight the invisible enemy.
Thankfully, the U.S. isn’t in this fight alone.
Israel: Our Eyes on the Ground
Having a close ally in the Middle East has been invaluable for the U.S. Our soldiers and intelligence agents are some of the best trained in the world, and they never let us down…but one advantage we’ve never had over the terrorists, is a home-field advantage—until we joined forces with Israel.
- Situated in the heart of the Middle East, Israel’s physical location makes it a great place for launching missions. The United States recently opened the first permanent military base in the Negev Desert last year, and the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have welcomed our military with open arms.
- Arabic is widely spoken in Israel and is one of the official languages. This means Israelis are easily able to listen for, and intercept, possible activities of extremist organizations—such as ISIL—that use Arabic to recruit and spread anti-Semitic propaganda.
- The United States military and the IDF train together often, and for all the expertise we have to offer, the battle-tested Israelis have plenty of knowledge to share as well—especially when it comes to desert combat!

Monitoring Iran’s Compliance with the Nuclear Deal
Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, has been keeping an eye on Iran and monitoring its compliance with the Nuclear Deal. The recent evidence that Mossad has provided points to the possible development of nuclear weapons before and throughout the negotiations, and the continued investigation will keep Iran accountable for its actions.
While the young and unstable nations of the Middle East work toward creating peace, it is critical to ensure that nuclear weapons do not fall into the wrong hands, so that the world can avoid devastating nuclear warfare.
Successful development of nuclear weapons could be used in a war against Israel, or sold to terrorists who could use them against anyone.
Thankfully, Mossad and Israel are diligent in monitoring not just Iran but the entire region… to protect Israel, and the world, from the danger of nuclear weapons. And with the latest state-of-the-art technology, the Israelis are always ahead of the terrorists.
Creating Opportunities in the U.S.
Israel is well-known as a startup nation, and now the companies that have come to the U.S. have brought success with them. But they’re not just coming to California’s Silicon Valley or New York City—now, New England is a prime location that has attracted more than 200 Israeli startups, created thousands of jobs, and generated billions in revenue.
“The New England-Israel Business Council released a study that shows that Israeli-founded businesses have generated about 9,000 jobs in Massachusetts alone, and indirectly support an additional 18,000. These companies represent nearly four percent of the state’s GDP. And that is just one state.”—United States Embassy[i]
The Bay State has fostered a partnership with Israel directly via the Massachusetts-Israel Innovation Partnership (MIIP), which has generated billions of dollars for the economies of both Massachusetts and Israel.
The most notable industries that have brought up qualified and valuable professionals include:
- Cybersecurity
- Green technology
- Partnerships between top universities in both countries such as MIT, Harvard, and Tel Aviv University
With Israeli companies continuing to partner with organizations and governments around the world, there’s no telling how much more opportunity is coming our way, as we work alongside our special allies in Israel. And many Israeli organizations are also eager to partner with the United States.
Military Tech Partnership
Many Israeli military technology companies are actively looking to partner specifically with the U.S. military, to help provide technology to empower our soldiers and keep them safer. One of the most notable technologies is a flying car!
Designed with urban rescue missions in mind, the flying cars make use of rotorless propellers, which would allow them to get closer to buildings, or land in tight spaces that would be inaccessible to helicopters.
After the devastating 9/11 terror attacks, New York City has invested heavily in its first responders, but even the fastest firefighters in the country (who can respond in 5 minutes or less) could benefit from technology that would enable them to reach upper floors even faster.
