President Trump declared the coronavirus pandemic a national emergency on March 13, 2020. On the same day, President Trump also announced a National Day of Prayer would be held on the following Sunday. We are just a few weeks into this national declaration and global pandemic, and we have a choice of how we will continue.
To the United States… Keep Turning to God for Protection!
“‘We are a Country that, throughout our history, has looked to God for protection and strength in times like these….,’ Trump tweeted. ‘No matter where you may be, I encourage you to turn towards prayer in an act of faith. Together, we will easily PREVAIL!’” i
President Trump is criticized for his bold declarations. But in these times of uncertainty, when the coronavirus pandemic is sweeping the globe, his bold declarations are what will turn our nation toward the One who will protect us.
Our culture and our past presidents have not only separated our nation from God but have spoken lies and have brought forth iniquities. As a result, many do not know where to turn during this time.
Therefore, we must be a voice to our nation and the next generation that echoes a return to the One who can restore and protect us.
We have seen Isaiah 59 manifested in our nation as many have positioned themselves as prey by departing from our God…
- “In transgressing and lying against the Lord, and departing from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. So truth fails, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey.”—Isaiah 59:13-15
Therefore, let us honor the Lord and the president who is turning our nation to Him for protection.
To the United States… Keep Lifting Prayers for Provision
“‘In America we celebrate faith. We cherish religion,’ he [President Trump] said during his State of the Union address last month [January]. ‘We lift our voices in prayer and we raise our sights to the glory of God.’” ii
President Trump asked this nation, a nation filled with God-fearing Believers, to stand up and lift their voices in prayer back in January… and in March, our country is being swept by the coronavirus pandemic. Have we stopped praying?
No!
Let us not lose sight of President Trump’s vision for our nation… to keep praying to God for the prosperity and endurance of our people.
“‘We will not allow faithful Americans to be bullied by the hard Left,’ Trump said. ‘A society without religion cannot prosper. A nation without faith cannot endure, because justice, goodness and peace cannot prevail without the glory of Almighty God,’ Trump said this month [January] at his evangelical rally. ‘For America to thrive in the 21st Century we must renew faith and family as the center of American life.’ (emphasis added)
“‘These angry radicals want to impose absolute conformity by censoring speech, tearing down crosses and symbols of faith and banning religious believers from public life,’ he said. ‘But we will not back down, we are standing tall for the values that we hold dear.’” iii
President Trump’s Efforts to Return to Prayer
President Trump is honoring the Lord by returning prayer to our schools. Even though schools are closed across America today, this turning started happening months ago. Let us not stop the momentum of this president’s efforts.
“‘I will be taking action to safeguard students' and teachers' First Amendment rights to pray in our schools,’ Trump said. ‘They want to take that right along with many other rights.’
“‘My administration will never stop fighting for Americans of faith,’ he said. ‘I really do believe we have God on our side.’”
Will We Continue the Vision into the Next Term?
Stop for a moment to consider what would happen if this vision was cut short. Right now, it is only delayed, but if it is disrupted, the outcome could be perilous.
Is the Lord giving Evangelicals in our nation a moment to pause and pray bold prayers to match His big promises and President Trump’s brave vision?
Perhaps.
This can be a time when we, as Believers, come together. Let us not only pray for the turning of our nation but pray for the return of our president into office in the next term.
Currently, President Trump’s vision is in agreement with God’s for our nation. It is up to us, as the American people, to come in alignment with this vision and elect a president who will see it through.
To the United States… Keep Honoring God, Our Nation, Our President
God tells us to honor and pray for those in leadership. Currently, the United States has a president who understands the role that God and faith play in the protection and provision of our nation.
President Trump has not sat idly by but has made use of his time in office. He has honored the American people and the American dollar by tackling issues right out of the gate…
- Immigration
- Employment
- Healthcare
President Trump has honored Israel, and he has honored the Evangelical community within the United States.
Now it is our turn. Let us choose to honor our president, not only during the pandemic by speaking words of life and blessings over him in prayer, but to activate those prayers by putting our money where our mouth is.
A lot of people will say they honor our president, but only the elect will choose to activate the proclamation. Let us stand bold. Let our voices be heard. Let us move forward in honor!
Your Choice and Your Voice
After the pandemic clears out, with what will we be left? We have a choice today to set the stage for tomorrow, and the next 4 years.
Will we forget what we learn during this moment of pause, or will we press forward with honoring the Lord and fighting the good fight of faith, re-electing a president who sought to honor the Lord from the beginning of his administration?
Let us stand with our voice and make a choice to turn back this nation. We have a responsibility as Believers in this hour to keep the momentum we have going. Let us show honor and hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servants.”
